Sierra Gilbert celebrates Autism Awareness Month

Sierra Gilbert staff, students, families, neighbors, district and community partners all gathered to celebrate Autism Awareness month with a parade and field day. Students created tie dye blue shirts and led a 1/2 mile parade while passing out Autism Awareness bracelets. Autism Awareness Day at Sierra School of Gilbert was nothing short of amazing. Students, families, staff, and community came together to celebrate in a way that was meaningful, fun, and full of heart. Meet Aaron M., an 8th grader in Ms. Becky's Secondary Bloom classroom and a true ray of sunshine in our school community! Aaron is a whiz at solving puzzles and quickly matching numbers, patterns, and letters—his mind works like a machine when it comes to sequencing! It’s January, the time of year when we begin to harvest the vegetables planted in the fall in the school garden at Sierra School of Gilbert. The school garden is celebrating its 8th year of dynamic and hands-on learning for students in the Spark and Bloom classrooms where youth of all abilities contribute to our school community.
