High Road School of the Quad Cities provides individualized education plans for students with extra needs. The school provides academic and therapeutic services to help give kids a positive attitude toward learning. It welcomes students with disabilities or disorders and works to provide them with a learning model that works for them.

Friday the school held its third annual prom complete with music, dancing, photos, and food. The “Let’s glow crazy” prom gave students an experience they would get at any other school, so they don’t feel left out.

Director Kristin Fox told Our Quad Cities News that working at High Road of the Quad Cities is something she loves and that events like these help kids prepare for life outside school.

“I absolutely love working here. It brings tremendous joy. There are a lot of challenges sometimes, but the benefits outweigh even the hard days, and it’s just great to see students find success. We want them to feel connected and to prepare for real life and experiences that they will have outside of these walls.”

Many of the students at the school said they appreciate not only the prom that the staff put together but also the extra work teachers do to make sure they are learning.

“I think it’s a really great, great school. I have so many friends here. It’s a really good school, and I mean especially how far I’ve gone on everything. I really appreciate being here.” Student Alex E told Our Quad Cities News.
