High Road Lima Students Learn Fire Safety During Fire Prevention Week

Students at High Road School of Lima welcomed Lima Fire Inspector Warren Pughsley on Oct. 8 for a special Fire Prevention Week visit.
This year’s theme, “Charge into Safety,” gave students an opportunity to learn about fire risks connected to everyday electronic devices. Pughsley discussed the importance of using the correct chargers and following safe charging practices at home.
Learning About Charger Safety
During the visit, students learned that electronic devices should be charged with equipment designed for that specific device. Using an incompatible charger can create safety concerns and increase the risk of a fire.
The lesson connected fire prevention to technology students may use every day. It also gave them practical information they can share with their families and apply at home.
Bringing Fire Prevention Week to Life
The visit gave students an opportunity to learn directly from a local fire safety professional. It also reinforced how simple habits can play an important role in preventing fires.
Fire Prevention Week activities like these help students build greater awareness of potential hazards while learning steps they can take to stay safe.
