High Road School of Hartford Primary Students Take on “Survivor” Team Challenges

Students at High Road School of Hartford Primary recently had the opportunity to participate in an exciting series of Survivor team challenges designed to promote collaboration and communication, while also building school spirit.

Building Skills Through Survivor Team Challenges

This special activity gave students a fun and practical way to practice important social and teamwork skills. From trivia and scavenger hunts to obstacle-style activities, skits and puzzle-solving, each challenge encouraged students to support one another, think creatively and celebrate each other’s strengths. In addition, students and staff worked together to create their own survival shelter using provided materials and creativity.

Building Trust as a Team

To make the experience even more exciting, students were divided into teams and wore red, blue, and green bandanas to represent their groups. One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of special immunity bracelets, which students could earn and use for an extra hint or an early start on a challenge.

Before the main activities began, students worked together to solve clues using cardinal directions to find the bracelets, helping teammates get to know one another and build trust right from the start.

Creative Challenges With Everyday Materials

The team-building challenges also included hands-on materials and interactive tasks. Challenges included items like sponges, straws, popsicle sticks, clothespins, cardboard boxes, towels, sheets, buckets, and plastic tubs, turning simple materials into opportunities for creativity and strategy.

In addition to being lots of fun, the challenges gave students opportunities to practice:

Staff Collaboration Made It Possible

Led by Ms. Chatel, the school’s instructional support coach, staff members collaborated to help plan the activities, organize materials, and create challenges that were both enjoyable and developmentally appropriate for students. Their teamwork behind the scenes helped make this memorable experience possible.

Activities like these help strengthen the school community while giving students valuable opportunities to grow socially and emotionally in a positive, supportive environment.
