Amanda, 15, has attended Sierra School at Wylie for the past four years. Faculty members say that she brings joy and enthusiasm to the campus. She also brings dedication to her schoolwork. Over the last 12 months, Amanda has made tremendous academic progress, increasing her math comprehension by two grade levels.

Growth Through Consistency and Accountability

Her teachers credit individual instruction when she’s struggling with a concept, constant practice, and being held accountable for correcting her mistakes as strategies that have helped support her transition progress.

“Amanda used to get upset if she felt she was being disrespected,” said Shannon Ainsworth, director of Sierra School at Wylie. “This year, we are seeing her remind herself that she is more mature and can handle herself without the blow-ups and be responsible for her actions.”

Supporting the Transition Progress Back to Her Home Campus

Last month, Amanda began transitioning back to her home campus, and she is on track to complete her full transition by spring break.

“Amanda’s growth has been incredible,” said Ainsworth. “We are so proud of how hard she has worked and all she has achieved during her time at Sierra School.”
