Chris enrolled at the High Road School of Fairfield County this school year, and from day one, he showed a strong desire to succeed. The transition brought new faces, routines, and expectations, but Chris met those challenges head-on and continues to make his staff and family proud.

Building Strong Attendance and Daily Success

He understands the importance of attendance and arrives every day with a smile. Through consistent effort and perseverance, he has made meaningful progress in academics, self-advocacy, and coping skills. His growth reflects both his hard work and his commitment to personal success.

Student Spotlight: Progress in the CASE System

One of Chris’ primary objectives is returning to public school. He has openly shared his desire to show his school team and his family that he is capable of reaching that goal. His progress within the CASE system highlights how far he has come. Chris currently maintains Step 4, the second-highest level. Notably, he has sustained ratings of 90% or higher in considerate, accountable, safe, and engaged behaviors for 28 consecutive days.

Reaching for GOLD Through Reflection and Growth

As part of his GOLD application, the highest level in the system, Chris completed a personal essay reflecting on his journey.

“When I first got here, it was a little tough, but then I learned the ropes and started getting my act right, and I’ve been doing all my work,” he said. “I am very proud of myself.”

Growth Beyond the Classroom Through Community Jobs

Chris’s growth extends beyond the classroom. He takes pride in completing school-based and community jobs throughout the building alongside Mr. Greg, the transition coordinator. These experiences include grocery shopping, working in the deli, and assisting with the ice cream cart.

Staff and Student Quotes That Show His Character

“Chris is always accountable and learns from his mistakes,” Mr. Greg said.

“Mr. Greg is teaching me how to be a better man and be more successful in life and in general,” Chris said.

Support staff have also recognized Chris’ character. “Chris is kind and generous to both staff and students,” said Ms. Kate, a member of his classroom team.

Student of the Month Recognition

In recognition of his hard work and positive attitude, Chris was named January Student of the Month, an honor that pleased his entire family.

“Chris’ journey is an example of perseverance, growth, and self-pride,” said Victoria Williams, assistant school director. “His school team and family are incredibly proud of the progress he has made, and we look forward to celebrating his continued success as he works toward his goals.”
