Sierra School of Scottsdale Celebrates the Season

A Festive School Holiday Celebration at Sierra School
Sierra School of Scottsdale welcomed the holiday season with a series of fun festivities, including cookie decorating, gingerbread house assembling, and writing heartfelt letters to Santa. A special visit from Santa Claus delighted students, who also had the opportunity to take photos with him and his elves. Students also enjoyed seasonal treats such as hot chocolate and candy canes.
Building School Spirit Through Seasonal Activities
The celebration followed 10 days of schoolwide holiday spirit, featuring themed dress-up days such as Christmas pajama day, ugly sweater day, and Christmas hat day. Throughout the week, students participated in seasonal activities designed to foster excitement, connection, and school pride.
Giving Back During a Meaningful School Holiday Celebration
Beyond the fun, teachers and staff emphasized the importance of giving back.
Students creatively decorated holiday ornaments to include in special gift baskets for residents of Haven Health Scottsdale, a local nursing care facility. The baskets were thoughtfully filled with treats and Christmas cards, bringing warmth, cheer, and a sense of connection to elderly community members during the holidays.
A School Holiday Celebration That Brings the Community Together
Families played a key role by generously donating items to help fill the baskets, turning the project into a genuine community effort. Collaboration among students, staff, and families made the experience meaningful and impactful.
“Sierra School is proud to support Haven Health Scottsdale and to teach students the importance of kindness, compassion, and service,” said Jameril Johnson, director of Sierra School of Scottsdale. “This holiday season, their efforts helped spread smiles and holiday cheer and showed how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community.”
