Sierra School of San Diego Spreads Holiday Cheer and Gives Back to the Community

This holiday season, Sierra School of San Diego came together to make a meaningful difference in their community. Through participation in the San Diego Food Bank drive, students, staff, and families collected 360 nonperishable items on campus and raised $383 online. The combined in-person and online efforts will provide more than 800 meals to local families, ensuring essential groceries and nourishment while offering a sense of stability and relief during challenging times.

A Community Food Drive Making a Local Impact

“It felt great giving back to the community and getting so many of our students and families involved with helping others during the holiday season,” said Ms. Wright, Bloom teacher who initiated the event.

Spreading Holiday Cheer Through School Partnerships

In addition to the food drive, the school partnered once again with the San Diego Gulls professional ice hockey team to bring extra cheer to students. During the holiday dance, students received stuffed animals, continuing a beloved tradition that has lasted three years.

“Our students are proud to give back during the holidays,” said Lanae Aguilera, director of Sierra School of San Diego. “Seeing the impact they can have in their community reminds us that giving and learning go hand in hand.”
