Sierra School of San Joaquin Hosts Its First Science Fair

Sierra San Joaquin Science Fair Inspires Students and Families
Sierra School of San Joaquin recently held its inaugural science fair, bringing students, families, and staff together for a day highlighting curiosity and hands-on learning. Students across all grade levels, including the Bloom, Spark, and Spring classes, presented projects that showcased their growing understanding of scientific concepts.
Hands-On Projects Spark Curiosity at the Science Fair
As part of the science fair, teachers guided students as they developed projects exploring volcanoes, elephant toothpaste, balloon explosions, and baking soda reactions.
One standout project came from Classroom 2, where students demonstrated a balloon-expansion experiment that captivated visitors. Staff also offered special praise to Classroom 1, the Bloom class, for their enthusiastic participation. Students stayed engaged and regulated throughout the activity, especially enjoying the sensory experience of working with clay.
Science Fair Builds Community Connection
The fair strengthened the school community by bringing students, staff, and families together in an encouraging and collaborative environment.
Based on the overwhelmingly positive response from families, the school plans to host science fairs each quarter to provide ongoing opportunities for students to explore science and share their learning with the community.
Celebrating Student Achievement at the Science Fair
“I am so proud of all the students who participated. Their excitement was inspiring, and I can’t wait for us to do it again,” said Director Aunyia Ames.
Students even received medals for their participation in the event.
“Their hard work and excitement made them all winners,” Ames said.
