Honoring Veteran Educator Vincent Lindsley on Veterans Day

This Veterans Day, High Road School of Wallingford is proud to recognize Vincent Lindsley, a distinguished member of the school’s leadership team and a United States Army veteran whose service and dedication continue to inspire students and staff alike.

During his 15 years of military service, Lindsley honed leadership, discipline, flexibility, and resiliency, all qualities he applies daily in education.

From Military Service to Educational Leadership

Lindsley honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 1999 as a combat engineer and, earlier, in the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2012, Vincent deployed with the Connecticut Army National Guard’s 248th Engineer Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After returning from his final deployment in 2013, Lindsley pursued an administrative certificate and a career in educational leadership.

He joined High Road School of Wallingford in 2018 as education director and now serves as senior director. Lindsley was part of Wallingford’s leadership team during the pandemic, navigating new protocols with flexibility and calm, ensuring the safety and learning of students remained a priority.

During school years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, Lindsley supported the region’s parent company, Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), across New England as director of training. He helped develop and implement training programs for staff while remaining connected to students and classroom needs.

“Vincent is an invaluable asset to our school,” said Gary Hunt, M.Ed., regional vice president, New England, SESI. “His leadership, experience, and dedication to students make us proud to have him on our team.”

A Lifelong Commitment to Learning and Service

Lindsley’s path to education began with a degree in exercise science, funded by the Montgomery GI Bill, which made college affordable and accessible. He went on to teach physical education in both public and private schools and later applied his expertise to special education, designing data-driven programs tailored to students’ needs. He also holds additional undergraduate and graduate degrees in educational leadership.

“From an early age, I was given leadership opportunities that helped cultivate the type of leader I am now,” he said. “Every leader, good or bad, taught me something.”

Lindsley, whose wife is also a teacher in Connecticut, emphasizes the importance of resilience and opportunity, both in his military service and educational career. “You have to be able to hit the reset button every day. Our kids deserve that, and so do you,” he said.

Inspiring Students to Lead and Persevere

Born and raised in Connecticut, Lindsley’s life experiences help him relate to students, particularly those navigating challenges similar to those he faced growing up. He encourages students to consider diverse paths for their futures, including military service when appropriate, and strives to foster safe, structured, and supportive learning environments that empower every student to thrive.

He tells students, “Take advantage of the opportunities you have. Every day is a new day, and with the right mindset, you can make a difference.”
