Charles McLaughlin, a recent graduate of Achieve Academy of Harrisburg, has a knack for hands-on work. With a love for building and creating, he knew early on that a traditional college route wasn’t the right path. Instead, he set his sights on trade school, where he could develop practical skills and launch a fulfilling career.
After careful consideration, McLaughlin chose to pursue a career in masonry. School leaders believe he will excel as he learns the trade. According to School Director Cammeron Woodyard, McLaughlin’s leadership, dedication and hard work while at Achieve Academy of Harrisburg have helped prepare him for the challenges of trade school.
Recently, McLaughlin received the exciting news of his acceptance into Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where he will study masonry while playing football. This marks a significant milestone in Charles’s life, not just academically, but personally as well.
“I’m proud that I’m the first person in my family to go to college,” said McLaughlin. As he looks ahead to life after high school, he is excited about leaving the nest, learning from industry experts, and remaining competitive on the football field. When asked about his advice to anyone considering enrolling at Achieve Academy, he said, “It’s the best decision you can possibly make.”
Achieve Academy not only helped him earn the credits he needed but also set him on a path to achieve his dreams. As McLaughlin prepares for their future, he knows his Achieve Academy family will be with him cheering him on as he accomplishes the goals, he set for himself. McLaughlin credits the entire staff at Achieve Academy, particularly Mr. Jones, for their unwavering support. “The most valuable lesson I’ve learned here is that you only get one life, so don’t waste it,” he said.
Congratulations Charles we’re so very proud of you!
