Apex Program

Apex Program is an in-district program serving the students of Pikes Peak BOCES. With a dedicated staff, students are able to access both academic and social-emotional education in a small and predictable environment. Focused on individualized education, our students have the opportunity to build confidence and competence in a caring environment with the ultimate goal to transition back into a less-restrictive setting. Our Students

Students are referred by their school district to attend Apex and are generally in grades K–12 (aged 5 to 21). We serve students with serious emotional disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, multiple disabilities and other health impairments.

Our Staff

We are proud to employ licensed special education teachers. Apex provides social workers and through partnership with Pikes PEAK BOCES, additional services such as occupational therapy, speech and language pathologists, and physical therapists are available.

By focusing on key areas — academics, behavior modifications, support services, and transition / life planning services — we are able to meet the individual needs of all students through these varied approaches to instruction. Through collaboration with a student’s IEP team, we are able to choose the most appropriate learning model based on a given student’s present levels of performance, social capabilities, motor coordination, and ability to learn in a group setting.

Utilizing four specific instructional rotations, students are assessed academically, gain self-regulation skills, learn with district-aligned academic curriculums, and utilize integrated technology.
