Excel Middle Years Academy recently celebrated one of the most inspiring and meaningful events of the school year – Signing Day.

“This special occasion is designed to give our 8th grade scholars the extra push they need as they approach graduation, while also rallying the support of their families, friends, and the broader Excel community,” said Sadiqa D. Lucas M.Ed., executive director, Excel Middle Years Academy.

Signing Day is a powerful rite of passage. Modeled after a graduation, it serves as a pre-celebration of each student’s commitment to their future as they announce the high school they’ll attend next and share their dreams and career goals.

Each student signed a certificate and commitment contract, pledging to stay focused, stay in school, and continue striving toward excellence. They received a lapel pin, recited a Scholar’s Oath, and publicly declared their intentions for the next chapter of their academic journey.

For the Excel community, it was a moment of unity and pride. Families beamed with joy, staff members cheered on their students, and the scholars stood tall, knowing that their dreams matter and their future are worth celebrating.

“As the director of Excel, this is always one of the most rewarding events to witness. It’s an unforgettable moment where we all come together to honor our students’ hard work and the bright paths ahead,” said Lucas.
