At the High Road School of Hoffman Estates, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about candy hearts and cute notes delivered to classmates – it’s about creating connections and celebrating all students. The recent Valentine’s Day dance brought together students of all ages and abilities in an exciting and unstructured setting, offering a special opportunity to bond and have fun.
For students at High Road, events like this go beyond the music, decorations, and sweet treats. They help fill a gap in social experiences that many miss by not attending their home school. First graders had the chance to mingle with older students, sharing the dance floor, smiles, and laughter. At the High Road School of Hoffman Estates, building a sense of community and inclusion is part of what strive for every day.
“We aim to create moments like these throughout the school year because they’re so important for our kids to feel connected and included,” said Erin Reid, school director. “This is where they can shine.”
