The Excel Academies of Chicago, part of the Chicago Public Schools’ Options Network, held a voter registration drive earlier this fall, that resulted in in 15 new registered voters. These students proudly cast their first time ballots in the 2024 presidential election, as well as many local races.

“At Excel, we believe in empowering our students to make their voices heard,” said Ashanti Brooks, school clerk, Excel Academy of Roseland. “Voter registration and participation are key parts of civic duty and our team worked to ensure that eligible students understood the process and importance of being active citizens. This election provided an invaluable opportunity for our students to engage with the democratic process and play a role in shaping the future.”

Within each of the Excel Academy schools, staff members are committed to not only helping students succeed academically but also to nurturing thoughtful, engaged members of their communities.

Every vote matters, and this year, Excel students made theirs count. Congratulations to our newly registered voters for stepping up and embracing their roles as responsible citizens.
