Alonso Popejoy, owner of Armored Roofing and Gilbert Coronado, Project Advisor and former Sierra School of Peoria staff member, dropped off Christmas presents for four of our students at Peoria. Their mission is strong to pay-it-forward and give back to their community! We appreciate this partnership and send a huge "Thank You!" to Armored Roofing, Alonso and Gilbert!

Winter Coat Drive

With winter on the way, some of our students may be in need of a warm coat to shield them from the cold. HRA will be hosting a Winter Coat Drive and collecting new or gently worn coats, scarves, hats and gloves to help those in need. Donations will be accepted from Monday, Dec. 19th through Friday, Jan. 20th. Please see the attached flyer for complete details. Together we can make a difference and share the warmth this winter. High Road School of Wright City Students Create Holiday Cards For Community

During December, students at High Road School of Wright City focused on being considerate and inclusive. School staff decided one way to promote inclusivity within the community, as well as considerate behavior, was to organize a holiday card drive for residents of Warrenton Manor, a local nursing home. Students enjoyed stretching their creative abilities to craft individualized holiday cards with cheerful greetings and words of encouragement. Excel Academy North Gives Back

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” – Mahatma Ghandi Embodying Ghandi’s philosophy, students at Excel Academy North were in the holiday spirit this fall as they took part in a “Day of Service” to help their community. The school partnered with various local organizations to place students in projects around the city. To benefit Feast of Justice, a local nonprofit addressing hunger, students sorted groceries, stocked shelves and put bags together for food distribution. Season of Giving at High Road School of Mount Prospect

When Brenda Gionnoulis, the administrative assistant for High Road School of Mount Prospect, was asked for gift ideas to celebrate her upcoming birthday, she had one request: For other staff members to join her for a volunteer opportunity at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a nonprofit organization that works with partners to distribute hand-packed meals in schools, orphanages, clinics, and feeding programs around the world. On November 19th, Brenda’s birthday wish came true when 12 of her colleagues volunteered with her to make and pack meals—24,624 meals, to be exact, or enough to feed 67 children for an entire year!
