World Kindness Day at High Road School of Windham County
World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself and to the world. World Kindness Day is an international holiday that is observed in many countries celebrated on November 13 every year. World Kindness day began in 1998 to build a kinder and more compassionate world. The purpose of World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common threads of kindness which bind us.
In November, our school celebrated World Kindness Day during Social Skills Class. Students all created a Kindness Cloud about someone they respected and looked up to and who they considered kind. They were then asked to think of the unique qualities that they really admired about the person brainstorming a list of words everyone in the class could think of. From the list, the students chose 6 words that best describe their person and attached the words to their Kindness Cloud.
