The Staff of High Road Of Southern Maryland were tasked with all becoming CPR and First Aid certified. A representative of The American Red Cross came in and provided lessons on CPR as well as Fire and Rescue tactics. The staff were provided with practice dummies and applied what they learned from the course to hands on. Also, the American Red Cross representative brought a simulator to teach the staff how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Staff were directed to properly pull the pin from the extinguisher, point it at the base of the fire, then put the fire out with a sweeping motion toward the simulator. The final part of the training was a full lesson on how to use the defibrillators that are in the building. Everyone was supplied with hands on training on not only how to use the machine, but where they are located inside the building and the differences between using it on an adult vs a child.
