February is Black History month and several activities were lined up during our Fun Fridays to celebrate Black History. Some inventions by African Americans were presented in a short video and then the students created food art illustrations using oranges, M&Ms, and graham crackers. Inventions like the traffic light by Garrett Morgan and the bicycle frame created and patented by Isaac R. Johnson were a few examples. The Fun Friday committee also organized a cooking demonstration. Fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, fried fish, and ice sweet tea drinks were on the menu.
