High-schoolers at Sierra School at Barrett spent the morning of December 10th off-campus. Students headed to Walmart and Dollar Tree on a mission to buy toys for kids ages 5-12! After they finished shopping, they donated their items to Toys for Tots. Sierra School at Barrett Social Worker Ms.Tiffee says, “I think they enjoyed trying to stay on a budget and buy toys that younger kids would like.” Staff wanted to plan this special field trip for our high-schoolers because, as Ms.Tiffee says, “We think it’s very important for our kids to build community skills and go through the process of giving back to others. They’re able to get out of their own reality for a little bit and see what’s going on in the communities and the world around them.” Ms.Tiffee hopes to plan more service projects like this one in the future!
