Mrs. Mel has been an integral part of the High Road family for the past 14 years. She has worked in several schools, with many of the region’s current directors and associate directors. Mel started in the original Cecil County location in Elkton as a 1:1 aide, then helped split the program into its current locations in Wilmington, DE and Elkton, as well as going to the Perryville location to work. After several years in Perryville, Mel helped move the program to its current location in Belcamp.

During the start of the 2019-2020 school year Mrs. Mel has planned 5 school wide events, including our biggest and best Thanksgiving Luncheon which gained media attention on television, internet and in the newspaper.

As administrative assistant, Mrs. Mel helps to keep our school running smoothly and effectively. She takes on so much more than her role dictates; reading Harry Potter with students during free time, heading up the Book Club, co-chairing our Events’ Committee and always willing to help at a quiet room or in a classroom…to name a few!

Mel’s positive, upbeat attitude contributes to the overall culture of our program. Everyone in the building (staff and students, alike) feed off it every day!
