Another Workforce Development Cohort from High Road Upper School has completed the 15-hour Childcare Teacher’s Aide course at Prince George’s community College. The 15- hour courses consisted of two classes: Basic early learning childcare techniques and communications techniques when working with parent. Students also learned to design a floor plan for a classroom and develop a basic lesson plan for a variety of age groups. All six members of the childcare cohort passed the end of course exam and are eligible -as certified by the state of Maryland- to work as teacher’s aide in licensed childcare facilities. After classes each member participated in classroom observations at a local daycare center and were also able to interact with the students. Students will begin participating in internships opportunities after the winter break.
