The seniors were given the opportunity to do volunteer work at Little Portion Farm in Ellicott City, MD this fall. Little Portion Farm is a ministry of the Franciscan Friars Conventual that provides fresh food to those in need. The food harvested is donated to the Franciscan Center in Baltimore, MD. Some students were tasked to load and move wheelbarrows of mulch and compost. The mulch was spread on paths through the farm and the compost was spread on the vegetable beds. The others were asked to remove tape from pieces of cardboard, which the farm uses as part of the mulch. Everyone worked hard and had fun volunteering their time. The experience was so worthwhile that they are willing to come back, if given another opportunity in the spring with warmer weather.
