Students during the week of November 18th, participated in several Thanksgiving- themed activities. Once a week, each classroom receives a social skills lesson from Ms.Brewster or Ms. Tiffee, Sierra School at Barrett’s social workers. Ms.Brewster led elementary classrooms in a lesson this week focused on gratitude. Students were given time to reflect on positive people, places, and things in their lives. Students then recorded some of these grounding memories for themselves to serve as supportive reminders throughout the coming school days. Later, during the students usual “Fun Friday” elective period, students decided between options like video-games, dodge-ball, nail-painting, and crafting as a way to celebrate their weekly level achievements. Some students expressed themselves artistically this week with a fall craft of decorating jars with mini candles inside.
