Students of our 2019-2020 senior class will be the first to take part in HRS of Philadelphia’s newly established senior seminar course. HRS Transition Coordinator Mr. Demby, in partnership with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, developed the course to teach seniors important skills related to potential careers, college/careers and life after high school. Course themes include interviewing, money and time management, social media do’s and don’ts, renting/buying a home and much more.
The course focuses more on learning through communication with others in the class, but students will be required to compile a portfolio as a measurement of progress, growth, and accomplishments.
Students are already off to a great start! Mr. Demby said the class was excited about the real-life subject matter. “So far, we’ve had great participation. The students are engaged and asking lots of good questions.”
