Social workers Ms. Rossetti and Ms. Gibson planned a fabulous Fall spirit week for students at High Road School of Wallingford. On Monday students wore flannel to kick off the week followed by Tuesday where they wore fall colors and decorated fall cupcakes.
On Wednesday students participated in a Fall Scavenger Hunt. Students were challenged to go around the school and complete tasks such as finding 5 orange things, acting like a social worker, acting like Mr. Berardesca and Mr. Lindsley, spelling out the word “fall”, finding a fall decoration, lip syncing to a Halloween song, and utilizing a coping skill in a VTO room. The winner was Miss Betlej’s room who enjoyed a pizza party.
On Thursday students wore their favorite fall shirt and made apple nachos! Students were able to drizzle caramel, sprinkles, candy, and a variety of other toppings on top of their apples. To close out the week, students were able to enjoy a Hayride driven by Mr. Rizzo and participated in a hot chocolate fundraiser to support their school.
Throughout the week were door decorating and estimation contests. Ms. Lieberman’s class won the door decorating contest and earned a pizza party! The estimation contest challenged students to guess how many candy corns were in a jar. The winner of the estimation contest was Keyon from Miss Betlej’s room. He won with a guess of 646 and took home the jar of candy corns!
