Students in the Hamden In-District classroom had a wild month! After learning about spiders and bats, the students took a field trip to the Beardsley Zoo to celebrate ‘Bat Week’. The students visited an exhibit with a colony of Common Vampire bats in the Rainforest building, enjoyed crafts in the Research Station, played bat games, observed bat skeletons and participated in a bat pop quiz and won origami bats as prizes! The students brought along a clipboard and pencil to complete a scavenger hunt to make their trip even more interactive and to learn about more animals. Each student completed a zoo report after their trip to report on their favorite animal. Some favorites were the Red Panda, the Amur leopard cubs and the Tigers!
