The staff at High Road of Hartford lives the motto of being flexible. On this particular trip our very own Administrative Assistant Mrs. Carrillo stepped away from the duties of her desk and drove us to our field trip and also translated for our Spanish speaking students during the trip.

Mrs. Carrillo reported, “I loved getting to know the students by interacting with them on the trip.” We toured the wonderful scarecrow display in downtown Old Wethersfield on a beautiful and crisp fall day. The giant ‘Alexa’ was the students’ favorite display! No matter what language our students spoke, this display was able to accommodate their music request.

Our next stop was a local pizza restaurant where Mrs. Carrillo and Teaching Assistant Mrs. Vose-Watson counseled the students on the best way to spend their hard-earned money (on a delicious pizza lunch). Mrs. Carrillo was so helpful in assisting our English language learner understand the menu and what the best value was. With her assistance, he was able to interact with the waitress and order the pizza for the whole group.

This trip was a success!
