For October 2019, the staff and students at High Upper School, in Lanham, Maryland participated for the 6th straight year in a fundraiser to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year’s beneficiary of the schools fundraising efforts will be the Susan G. Komen National Capital Region. High Road Upper School staff and students could wear jeans everyday instead of their school uniforms, if they wore a pink garment and donated three dollars each day. Staff and students have so far raised $110 and counting in support of the NCR goal to help us support life-saving research, treatment, education and community health programs. Michelle Anderson, Executive Director of the Southeast Maryland Region, says “This is a cause that is very dear to my heart. My mother and godmother are breast cancer survivors.we were able to bring awareness and encourage anyone dealing with this disease to keep fighting! We plan to continue to support this cause for years to come.”
