WOWD-LP Takoma Radio Field Trip

The 6th grade class of Ms. Davis, Ms. Hill, and Mr. Woodward of High Road Academy, Laurel went on a field trip to WOWD-LP 94.3 FM in Takoma Park, MD. WOWD-LP Takoma Radio is an independent community radio serving Takoma Park, College Park, and Hyattsville in Maryland with some parts of Northeast and Northwest DC. The radio station is an LPFM (low power FM) meaning it operates at 100 watts or less reaching a 5-mile radius listening area. Student Spotlight: Andre M.

Andre M. is a current Senior at High Road Academy. Andre has become a member of the DORS Pre-ETS program, which assists Maryland students with job placement. Andre was able to obtain a job at Planet Fitness in Seat Pleasant, MD where he cleans the equipment and helps guests and other staff as needed “I really enjoy working there.” Andre says. Student of the Month: Aaron

Aaron has been making huge strides both academically and socially. Aaron used to wear his hoodie every day and struggled with social interactions and participating in the classroom. Now Aaron almost never wears his hoodie in the classroom, participates in group classroom activities and readily greets everyone he meets on campus.Aaron is a great role model to other students, he is kind and helpful in the classroom. Fun Friday at Flingers

Our Middle School students that made it to Blue Level were able to participate in a Fun Friday outing! They went to Flingers Pizza Pub in Bloomington where they practiced ordering food and enjoyed dining at a restaurant with their peers. Newer students were able to interact with their classmates in a fun atmosphere.
