ELKTON — A team of students from High Road School of Cecil County will travel to Wilmington, Del. on March 30 to compete for awards in the Transitional Olympics. Staff and students from High Road Schools in the Mid-Atlantic region recently came together to participate in a community winter clothing and food drive event, hosted by the “Responsive Schools Initiative.” The Initiative focuses on social justice, responding to community concerns, and the promise to always address the needs of both students and staff. A Life-Changing Transformation: Drew’s Story

The phrase “life-changing” tends to be overused and often becomes a cliché. However, in the case of Drew, a 12th grade student at the High Road School of Cecil County (MD), the transformation he’s gone through in his nine years at the school has truly been life changing.  Communication Breakdown  As a young child, Drew experienced difficulties with communication, which led to several instances of behavioral issues. High Road School of Cecil County led a car wash to raise donations for the Special Olympics. Students worked together to spray, scrub, rinse, and dry numerous cars while cooking hot dogs and serving them to community members! Autism Awareness Spirit Week at High Road School of Cecil County!

Students and staff at the High Road School of Cecil County celebrated Autism Awareness by participating in a spirit week! Students and staff participated in spirit days such as tie dye day, light it up blue day, and twin day! Students who were on Step 4 for several weeks leading up to the big North Bay Adventure camp trip enjoyed spending 3 entire days camping on the North East river with staff members.
