September Student of the Month

All around student of the month Serenity is a second-grade student at High Road School of Wallingford Primary/Middle. She is nicknamed Belle, after the Disney princess in school because she loves to read. She read over 200 books last school year including chapter books. She loves to play with dinosaurs when she is not reading. Serenity was nominated as the student of the month for her huge successes. New Outdoor Play Space at High Road School of Peoria

Movement and physical activity are critical for students' overall well-being and now students at the High Road School of Peoria have a new outdoor space perfect for a range of activities. Recently the school community celebrated the opening of the new sport court with a ribbon cutting, balloons and cake. “Our goal is to make learning fun and the addition of the sport court provides another opportunity for students to enjoy themselves while learning new skills,” said Theresa Mortl Smith, regional vice president. Braeden’s Behavioral Breakthrough

When Braeden arrived at the High Road School of Anne Arundel County as a kindergartener in 2014, the staff knew it had a challenge ahead. Braeden, who is on the autism spectrum, immediately demonstrated self-injurious behaviors, tantrums, aggression toward others, and destruction of property. A Decade of Service

This month marks Ashanti Brooks’ 10th year as an employee at the Excel Academy of Roseland, part of the Chicago Public Schools’ Options Network. As a member of the school’s founding team, Brooks has witnessed Excel Roseland’s growth and impact on students. Her role and reach as school clerk extends far beyond the school day. A familiar face known by students and staff, Brooks says the impact she makes on young people keeps her motivated year after year. Excel Academy South Shore hosts Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and CPS leaders for back-to-school press conference

The first day of the 2022-23 school year had all eyes on the Excel Academy of South Shore, as Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot selected the school, part of the Chicago Public Schools’ Options Network, as the location for the city’s back-to-school press conference. Members of Chicago Public Schools’ (CPS) executive leadership team including CEO Pedro Martinez and CEdO Bogdana Chkoumbova also participated in the press conference.
